Book Orders: Scholastic book orders will come home with your child periodically.  Scholastic is a great way to grow your home library, but is totally optional.  It is really easy to order books on-line, just make sure you use our class activation code: L63W3.

Clothing: Students should wear comfortable clothes.  We sit on the floor, run, jump, eat, play, color and paint.  Although we will use art smocks, your child may come home a little dirty.  Just remember, if they are dirty, they had fun!  We have the students remove their shoes at the front door and teach them to keep them together.  When it is time to go, we don’t mind helping the kids put on their shoes, but it is easier if the kids have shoes that they can put on themselves (slip-ons, Velcro, etc). If your child is wearing tie shoes, please make sure he/she can tie them independently.  We don't have enough hands to tie each child's shoe as they are leaving.


Communication:   You can stay updated by our monthly newsletters and e-mails.  These newsletters will have snack/share schedules, field trip reminders, and include information about what we are learning in class.

Discipline: In general, we follow the principles of Love and Logic.  We "praise the positive" behaviors and redirect inappropriate behavior as much as possible.  If these approaches do not work, a verbal warning will be given to the student to stop the behavior.  If the problem persists, we will notify the parent and discuss a plan to correct the behavior.

​Field Trips:  We have some fun field trips planned for this school year!  Field trips will take the place of class.  Parents are responsible for transporting their student to and from the location of the field trip.  Please check our monthly newsletters to know when our next field trip will be, or refer to your schedule in the colored folder.  Admission costs for students are covered through your supply fee that you paid at the beginning of the year.  Siblings are welcome to join us; please note that you are responsible to pay for admission costs of siblings and parents.  If you cannot attend the field trip, please make arrangements for your student to ride with another parent. 

Photos: Throughout the year we will be photographing the children at school.  These pictures will be used for preschool purposes such as art projects, learning tools, the website, newsletters, etc.

Questions/Concerns:  Education is a partnership, and your child learns best when we work together as a team. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us via email, text, or phone.

Registration Fee:  There is a non-refundable $50 registration fee due at registration.  This secures your child’s spot for the year.

School Cancellations: Preschool will be canceled due to weather only if West Ada schools are canceled.  If this occurs, we will post it on our website and attempt to notify the primary parent/guardian via text or phone call.

Sickness:  The one thing we do not want to share at preschool is germs!  If your child has a fever, cough, scratchy throat, runny nose, diarrhea, pink eye, vomiting, or anything else that may be contagious, please keep them home.  Please notify us immediately if your child contracts something highly contagious (i.e. head lice or chicken pox).  If your child is exhibiting any of these symptoms while in school, we reserve the right to ask them to go home.

Snack and Share: You will be asked periodically to provide a healthy, simple snack for the entire class (we have six students). If possible, please plan on non-sugary snacks (with the exception of special occasions).  Typically, your snack day will be on a Thursday.  Please check the monthly newsletters to find out when it is your turn.  Thanks for your help!

Age Requirement: Students must be four-years-old by July 1st, 2020.


Arrival and Departure: Class begins at 9:45 am. You may drop your child off between 9:40 am and 9:45 am.  Please remember that this is a school, not a daycare service.  We cannot allow students to come any earlier than 9:40 am. Please pick up your child between 11:45 am and 11:50 am.
 
We will line up outside when we are done with class.  Please be prompt when picking up your child.  Parents who have not picked up their child within 10 minutes of dismissal will be charged a $10.00 late pickup fee. We understand that sometimes things happen that are out of your control.  In light of this, you are allowed one late pick up without charge  If you are going to be late, please text Miss Jessie to let her know.


Feel free to park in any of the three spots in my driveway.  You can also park in front of my house.  Please watch for children entering and exiting cars.  When picking up or dropping off your child, please be respectful of my neighbors. Do not use my neighbor's driveway to park or turnaround. If someone other than a parent/guardian is going to be picking up your child, please let us know.  Please inform us of any other pickup or drop off changes (i.e. an early pickup).

Bathroom Abilities: All students must be able to use the potty on their own.

Birthdays:  We want to help your student feel special on his/her special day.  We will celebrate birthdays on the closest preschool day before or on the child’s birthday.  Your child will be assigned the snack for this day.  On this day you are welcome to bring a sweet treat for snack to celebrate.  Summer birthdays will be celebrated in September or May.  Please do not hand out birthday invitations at school, unless you have an invitation for all students.

Your student's snack day will also be his/her share day.  Snack/share day is typically on Thursday (unless we have a field trip that day, it will be moved to Tuesday).  Please bring something to share with the class that represents the weekly theme.  For example, if the theme of the week is fall, the student could bring a leaf for sharing time.  This is a great opportunity for your child to practice speaking in front of the class.  Please check the monthly newsletter to find out when it is your student’s turn to bring something to share.

Supply Fee:  The supply fee for this class is $70.  It is due by July 15, 2020.  This covers the cost of all art/school supplies your student will need for the year, as well as field trips.

Toys: Toys from home need to stay home, unless they are part of share.

 

Tuition and Payment:  Tuition is due the 1st Tuesday of every month, September-May. There will be a $25 late fee charged to unpaid balances after the second Tuesday of the month.  You may pay with venmo, cash, a personal check, or through Pay Pal.  Please make checks payable to Jessica Collett.  There will be a $35 fee for any returned checks. Please note that we do not reduce tuition costs if a student is absent.  Tuition is an annual sum divided into nine equal monthly payments.  Tuition remains the same regardless of a child’s attendance, severe weather, or any other closings beyond our control.

Vacations and Holidays:  Preschool will begin the day after Labor Day and end before Memorial Day.  For all other changes in schedule, we follow the West Ada School District traditional elementary school calendar.  

Withdrawal Policy:  If for some reason your child is unable to attend the entire school year, a 30-day notice is required for termination.  You must still pay tuition for those 30 days.  No withdrawals will be accepted after April 1st.  If there is a need to withdraw after April 1st, tuition is still due for the month of May.
